Place your bets! Supreme Court opens doors for states to allow legal sports betting
In recent years, New Jersey has been pushing for the ability to allow sports gambling, which would allow Atlantic City casinos to offer something Las Vegas casinos have had for years.
On Monday, the state got a huge win at the Supreme Court level, as the court ruled that a federal ban on state-sanctioned sports betting was unconstitutional.
However, unfortunately for New Jersey, this means that all 50 states could theoretically legalize sports betting:
BREAKING: U.S. Supreme Court rules that federal ban on state-sanctioned sports betting is unconstitutional. Decides case in favor of New Jersey. Floodgates now officially open for other states to allow sports betting. #RIPPASPA

How long it takes other states to implement sports betting remains to be seen, but this is an interesting court victory for the industry.
The folks in Las Vegas won’t like this decision much, but they could soon have a lot of competition in the sports-betting market.
