Taking a position-by-position look at Mississippi State at Arkansas, here’s a comparison for Saturday’s showdown in Fayetteville.

QUARTERBACK — Push: Unusual in modern college football, two fifth-year senior quarterbacks, Dak Prescott for the Bulldogs and Brandon Allen for the Razorbacks, square off in a game with possible bowl implications. One of the main reasons the Razorbacks are among the hottest teams in the SEC is the play of Allen during a four-game winning streak. On the road in wins over LSU and Ole Miss, Allen was 42–for-61 for 583 yards passing with seven TDs and one interception. Prescott is trying to rebound from the loss against Alabama when he threw for 300 yards but the Bulldogs managed just six points. It was a rare offensive drought for Prescott, who had a 32-game streak with a run or pass for a TD snapped.

RUNNING BACKS — Arkansas: Alex Collins, a Doak Award semifinalist, may be the best of the SEC running backs not playing at LSU or Alabama. He leads the conference with eight 100-yard games. Collins has showed some big-play ability lately with three 60-yard runs, including an 80-yard score at LSU last week. Collins’ numbers dwarf those of Mississippi State, which is led in rushing by Prescott’s 432 yards.

WIDE RECEIVERS, TIGHT END — Push: Mississippi State expects to get back WR Malik Dear after he missed the Missouri and Alabama games. A game-time decision is WR De’Runnya Wilson, who was carted off the field last week with a head/neck injury. Wilson leads the team with 40 catches for 664 yards and eight TDs. But Prescott’s favorite target is WR Fred Ross, who has 59 catches for 662 yards. Allen’s top targets include WR Drew Morgan and TE Hunter Henry, who are each in the top 20 among SEC pass catchers.

OFFENSIVE LINE — Arkansas: Mississippi State allowed nine sacks and four quarterback hurries last week. That brought the number of sacks allowed against the Bulldogs to 22 this season. Arkansas, meanwhile, has allowed half of that. Similarly, Arkansas is third in the SEC with 2,030 rushing yards and 22 TDs. Mississippi State has rushed for 1,413 yards and 15 TDs.

DEFENSIVE LINE — Mississippi State: The Razorbacks are coming off an LSU win where they notched five sacks, a number the program hadn’t reached in a game in two years. They have 13 for the season. DL Deatrich Wise Jr. leads the unit with 4.5 sacks. The Bulldogs, meanwhile are fifth in the SEC with 25 sacks, thanks to five from DL A.J. Jefferson, who also has 12.5 tackles for a loss.

LINEBACKERS — Push: LB Richie Brown leads Mississippi State with 5.5 sacks and 79 tackles, while a freshman, Dre Greenlaw, leads the Razorbacks with 84 tackles. Greenlaw is the reigning Freshman of the Week in the SEC after he led in tackles for a fifth time last week. Brown is trying to continue a growing line of linebackers turned NFL draft picks after Benardrick McKinney, Cam Lawrence, Chris Wright and K.J. Wright.

SECONDARY — Mississippi State: Mississippi State is in the top five in the SEC in both interceptions and passes defended. Arkansas is in the bottom four of both categories. DB D.J. Dean paces Arkansas with two interceptions, while the Bulldogs have three players with two picks each.
