So, after watching many of my predictions on running backs’ stats miss badly week after week, I finally made a few good ones last week (predicted correct rushing TDs for both Nick Brossette and JaTarvious Whitlow, off by only 12 yards on Scottie Phillips’ total).

However, my predictions on receivers left a lot to be desired, putting it kindly. For example, I predicted that Jerry Jeudy, A.J. Brown and Darius Slayton would each have two receiving TDs. They did all have the same total, but it was a big, fat zero for each.

The only prediction I know will be 100 percent correct in this week’s column: Drew Lock will not appear.

Missouri is off this week.

Most Passing Yards
1. Kellen Mond, Texas A&M (vs. Arkansas)

Prediction: 320 yards
Why? This is the case of a quarterback enjoying playing any defense not named Alabama. Two weeks ago, Ole Miss QB Jordan Ta’amu faced the Crimson Tide defense, then he threw for 442 yards the next week. Last week, Mond was slowed down by Alabama, and this week he gets to face the Arkansas defense. See the pattern developing?

2. Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama (vs. Louisiana)

Prediction: 300 yards
Why? Not expecting Tagovailoa to be around longer than a half, if that. However, he has proven he doesn’t need a lot of time to put up impressive numbers. It doesn’t hurt that his opponent, Louisiana, has allowed an average of 332 passing yards per game over the last two seasons against SEC opponents.

3. Jake Bentley, South Carolina (at Kentucky)

Prediction: 300 yards
Why? Bentley has been pretty consistent all season, throwing for at least 250 yards in all three games. Only two other quarterbacks in the SEC have three 250-yard passing games this season: Drew Lock and Jordan Ta’amu. Plus, Bentley’s only career 300-yard game against an SEC opponent came last season against … Kentucky.

Most Passing TDs
1. Kyle Shurmur, Vanderbilt (vs. Tennessee State)

Prediction: 3
Why? Last season, Shurmur had five games with at least 3 TD passes. But so far this season, he has only 6 total TD passes in four games. This looks like the game for Shurmur to pad his stats against a Tennessee State team that ranks 109th in pass defense – at the FCS level.

2. Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama (vs. Louisiana)

Prediction: 3
Why? Again, it would be a surprise to see Tagovailoa in the second half of this game. No big deal for him, though. Tagovailoa has thrown 10 of his 12 TD passes in the first half this season.

3. Joe Burrow, LSU (vs. Ole Miss)

Prediction: 2
Why? Yes, Burrow’s completion percentage (49 percent) is unimpressive, to say the least. Here is what is impressive: There are 31 Power 5 QBs that have 100 pass attempts this season, but only one has yet to throw an interception – Burrow. Oh yeah, did anyone forget that Ole Miss is ranked 122nd in the FBS in pass defense, allowing 315 yards per game through the air?

Most Rushing Yards
1. Benny Snell Jr., Kentucky (vs. South Carolina)

Credit: Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

Prediction: 125 yards
Why? I left him out of my predictions last week, and he had his best game of the season against Mississippi State (165 yards, 4 TDs). In other words, it doesn’t matter the opponent, Snell is going to be productive. He is averaging 155 rushing yards per game against FBS opponents this season, and in last year’s win over South Carolina, Snell ran for 102.

2. Nick Brossette, LSU (vs. Ole Miss)

Prediction: 115 yards
Why? Despite the 4-0 start, LSU has the worst offense in the SEC, ranking dead last in total yards (353 per game). But the Tigers’ most consistent player has been Brossette, and even though he is averaging just 3.5 yards per carry over his last two games, he should be able to go over the century mark in yards against an Ole Miss defense that is allowing 191 rushing yards a game, worst in the SEC.

3. Elijah Holyfield, Georgia (vs. Tennessee)

Prediction: 100 yards
Why? Although he is sharing carries with a number of other Georgia ballcarriers, most notably D’Andre Swift, Holyfield is showing he doesn’t need too many carries to be productive. Two weeks ago, he had his first career 100-yard game and needed only eight carries to get there. And Tennessee just gave up 201 yards on the ground last week at home to Florida.

Most Rushing TDs
1. Nick Brossette, LSU (vs. Ole Miss)

Prediction: 2
Why? Once again, the Rebels defense is bad. Ole Miss has allowed 7 rushing TDs this season, the most in the SEC. Brossette is coming off a 3-TD game last week. This seems like a natural fit.

2. Nick Fitzgerald, Mississippi State (vs. Florida)

Prediction: 2
Why? Fitzgerald was shut down in the running game last week, with only 20 yards on 16 carries. However, he still managed to score a TD on the ground, and now the Bulldogs return home. Fitzgerald has at least 2 rushing TDs in eight of his last 11 home games, including a 4-TD performance two weeks ago.

3. Benny Snell Jr., Kentucky (vs. South Carolina)

Prediction: 2
Why? Snell’s yards are impressive enough, as he ranks third nationally in yards per game (135.0). But he is also the leader among Power 5 players with 7 rushing TDs. He also has 18 rushing TDs in his last 10 games vs. SEC opponents.

Most Receiving Yards
1. D.J. Metcalf, Ole Miss (at LSU)

Prediction: 120 yards
Why? Metcalf is one of the most explosive players in the SEC, with 4 receptions of 40-plus yards already this season (tied with Oklahoma’s Marquise Brown for the most in the FBS). Last week he had his first 100-yard game of the season, with 102 against Kent State. The Rebels figure to get their yards, and Metcalf has the best chance to break a long one for them.

2. Jhamon Ausbon, Texas A&M (vs. Arkansas)

Prediction: 110 yards
Why? Ausbon was shut down last week against Alabama, with only 1 reception for 15 yards. But, if Mond is going to get his passing yards, he’s going to have to throw the ball to someone. The prediction here is it will be Ausbon, who averaged 20 yards a catch three weeks ago against Clemson.

3. Deebo Samuel, South Carolina (at Kentucky)

Prediction: 100 yards
Why? Last year against Kentucky, Samuel had 122 yards receiving on just 5 catches in less than three full quarters before breaking his ankle and missing the rest of the season. Samuel is tied for fourth in the SEC in receptions with 20, but he is averaging just 7.3 yards a catch. His breakout game is coming, and the prediction is it will come on Saturday.

Most Receiving TDs
1. Jerry Jeudy, Alabama (vs. Louisiana)

Prediction: 2
Why? Last week against Texas A&M, Jeudy was held out of the end zone for the first time all season. Does that mean it’s time to jump off the bandwagon? Hardly. Jeudy still had a career-high 6 receptions against the Aggies, meaning he is still a big target for Tagovailoa. And, like Tagovailoa, Jeudy may not see the second half of this game Saturday, so expect his TD catches to happen early.

2. Kalija Lipscomb, Vanderbilt (vs. Tennessee State)

Prediction: 2
Why? Quick, who leads the SEC in receptions? Yes, it’s Lipscomb, who is tied for fourth in the FBS with his 34 catches. And 3 of his 4 touchdown catches this season have come against non-Power 5 opponents.

3. Deebo Samuel, South Carolina (at Kentucky)

Prediction: 2
Why? Perhaps the biggest surprise by any player in the SEC this season is the fact that Samuel, who has the reputation as a touchdown machine, has only 1 in three games. Last season, he had 6 scores in his three games, with 5 stretching 25 yards or more. Again, his breakout game is coming, folks.
