There were 17 5-star players signed by SEC schools in the 2018 recruiting class. By this time in the season, there’s a decent sample size to show how most of them have done so far this season.

Pro Football Focus took on the task of grading every player around the country, including the SEC players, and it was a detailed effort. PFF graded every play of every game, and outlined how each 5-star recruit from ESPN, 247 Sports and Rivals, and how they’ve graded during this season to date.

The only player that didn’t receive a grade was the injured Georgia running back, Zamir White, who is out for the season with a knee injury.

The top two players from the SEC in terms of grade are Georgia QB Justin Fields (84.4) and Alabama WR Jaylen Waddle (83.2).

Fields even topped Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence, who received a 78.9. Fields was topped by WR Justyn Ross of Clemson (84.7), and the top player in the country, Xavier Thomas, a defensive lineman from Clemson (86.9). He’s had 17 total pressures on just 85 pass-rushes. He’s brought in 22 total tackles despite just two misses and has three sacks to date.
