OFFENSIVE RED ZONE STATISTICS

Through Week 4, Kentucky is the only SEC team that’s managed to score on every red zone trip, going 12-for-12. LSU and Ole Miss were also able to say that entering Week 4, but the Rebels were 5-for-6 against Vanderbilt and LSU was 4-for-5 against Syracuse.

The Wildcats are the only Power 5 team that’s scored every time with that many attempts, and only three other FBS teams have more (Memphis, Georgia Southern and Idaho).

However, distinction of most impressive team in the red zone goes to Mississippi State when you focus on touchdowns. That’s because the Bulldogs lead the SEC in both offensive red zone touchdown percentage (80%) and defensive red zone touchdown percentage (28.6%).

The Bulldogs leading the pack on both sides of the ball is impressive when considering that Mississippi State is one of only two schools, along with Alabama, to even rank among the top 5 in both areas other than Alabama. The Crimson Tide is 2nd in offensive red zone TD% (78.9%) and 4th in defensive red zone TD% (45.5%).

This list is sorted by scoring percentage.

DEFENSIVE RED ZONE STATISTICS

Contrary to what you might think, Missouri is the only SEC team to allow a score on every trip to the red zone as opponents are 9-for-9 when reaching there. The Tigers are one of only five Power 5 teams that have been perfectly generous to this point, and Mizzou’s nine attempts while allowing a score each time is tied for the most among them.

The Gators have been stout with their backs against the wall. Florida has allowed a TD in just 4 of 11 tries (2nd-best in the SEC), and they’ve forced opponents to settle for a field goal in 5 of 11 tries (1st in the SEC).
