Former Alabama OC Mike Locksley took the Maryland head coaching job this offseason, and now he’s working on assembling his 2019 staff.

One spot he still has open is defensive coordinator, and it seems he could be looking at a Tennessee assistant to fill that job.

Per a report from FootballScoop.com, Locksley is eyeing current Tennessee safeties coach and special teams coordinator Charles Kelly:

Sources tell FootballScoop that Tennessee safeties coach/special teams coordinator Charles Kelly has been offered the Maryland defensive coordinator job. We are told Maryland expects Kelly to accept the position and a deal could be in place as early as this evening.

Kelly has defensive coordinator experience, filling the role at Florida State from 2014 to 2017 before joining Jeremy Pruitt’s staff at Tennessee for the 2018 season.

Nothing is official yet, but it seems the Vols may soon have another position to fill on their staff.
