As different universities across the SEC roll out plans for attendance numbers ahead of the college football season, the conference has released guidelines for attendance and other game day activities and traditions.

“These fan guidelines have been adopted by the 14 member schools of the Southeastern Conference as baseline recommendations for the campus management of fan health and safety,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said in a release. “Although local and state guidelines will determine if and how many fans can attend games, these guidelines provide conference-wide expectations for protection of guests who are able to attend our games.”

Among the changes are concession areas will have plexiglass and social distancing between customers. “Grab and go” stations should be considered.

Here are other recommendations from the SEC:

  • Institutions should determine the number of fans allowed, in accordance with applicable state and local guidelines
  • Face coverings (over the nose and mouth) shall be required as a condition for all fans ingress, egress, and movement throughout the stadium, as well as any time fans are unable to maintain the recommended physical distance from others who are not in their same household. Stadium workers and athletics staff should wear face coverings at all times.
  • All tickets should be digitally scanned, and signs around entrance areas should encourage CDC guidelines around social distancing and face masks.
  • Guest shuttles should follow proper guidelines and be disinfected regularly, with face coverings for the driver and riders, and social distancing.
  • Institutions shall determine whether tailgating or other large gatherings of guests (alumni events, university recruiting events, etc.) are permitted on property owned and/or controlled by the institution
  • Institutions shall determine whether team walks are permitted in accordance with applicable state and local guidelines, policies and/or regulations. If team walks are allowed, everyone should wear face coverings, and maintain social distance
  • Institutions should launch a communication/public relations campaign for communicating all COVID-19 procedures/protocol to prospective guests.
