Most college football fans have seen Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa shine during the first half of the season, but the midseason All-American Team from Pro Football Focus shows the SEC particularly dominates in the secondary.

Three of the four players on the team are from the SEC, including Georgia’s Deandre Baker (91.3 grade), Florida’s Brad Stewart, Jr. (90.1) and Alabama’s Deionte Thompson (91.9).

PFF wrote that “Baker maintains his preseason top spot among cornerbacks, leading the nation with a 91.5 coverage grade as he’s allowed just 117 yards on 30 targets to go with two interceptions, eight pass breakups and a 32.2 passer rating against.”

Thompson, meanwhile, is still the top playmaking safety in the nation as he leads the way with a 91.0 coverage grade while picking off two passes and breaking up five passes.

Overall, PFF had more than 500 analysts dissect and grade every snap of every game to produce this list.

Tagovailoa was joined on the offensive team by Texas A&M TE Jace Sternberger, who had a grade of 90.0, and Alabama OT Jonah Williams, who had a grade of 86.2. Tagovailoa’s grade was 92.8.

Sternberger has emerged as the nation’s best receiving tight end in recent weeks, PFF wrote, leading the way with a 91.9 receiving grade and 496 yards. He’s averaged 8.8 YAC/reception while forcing eight missed tackles and posting a solid 67.4 grade as a run-blocker.

Kentucky pass rusher Josh Allen made the team with a 90.0 grade and Alabama DL Quinnen Williams joined him with a 95.0 grade.
