It was an impressive opening week on the field for the SEC and there were plenty of impressive individual performances.

Not surprisingly, while it’s still obviously early, there are a number of SEC players who are being considered frontrunners for the Hesiman Trophy.

On Sunday, DraftKings updated its Heisman odds for the 2022 season and four SEC players were among the top six.

Headlining the list at +300 is Alabama’s Bryce Young. The junior quarterback won the award a year ago and put up stellar numbers in his first game of 2022, accounting for 295 yards of total offense and 6 touchdowns in a 55-0 win over Utah State on Saturday.

Young’s teammate, linebacker Will Anderson, is listed at +2000, while Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett is +1800.

Bennett passed for 368 yards and 2 TDs in a 49-3 win over Oregon on Saturday.

Probably the biggest surprise among the top 6 is Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson, who jumped from well off the radar to +2200 after accounting for 274 yards and 3 TDs in the Gators’ upset win over No. 7 Utah on Saturday night.

Richardson’s chances of remaining one of the frontrunners will likely hinge on Florida’s team success this season, but there’s no denying his physical talent.

Rounding out DraftKings’ odds after Week 1 of the college season are Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud at +350 and USC quarterback Caleb Williams at +600.
