SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic shares takeaways following Week 8 action
ESPN’s and SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic shares his team-by-team thoughts every Sunday. This week, the SEC Weekend Crew, which includes Tom Hart, Jordan Rodgers and Cubelic, was in College Station, Texas. They saw Texas A&M pound South Carolina unmercifully.
Cubelic is the crew’s field analyst, and he does a tremendous job breaking down plays alongside Rodgers and Hart. SDS recently did a background feature on the SEC Weekend Crew that you can read here.
Below are Cubelic’s takeaways from Week 8:
ARKANSAS: Handled their business. Burks out of his mind. KJ super efficient. Run game dominant. Hogs own in state opponents. Over .500, ahead of schedule, bowl eligibility within reach. Gotta get healthy for stretch run. Need to clean up 3rd downs, TO's & flags.

MISSISSIPPI STATE: Rogers extremely comfy. Really nice game for both OT's. Perimeter throws big. Entire OL forgets to work together at times. Still want to see traditional runs more. Defense limited explosive plays with a limited number of calls. Candy corn sucks serial killers.

SOUTH CAROLINA: Just don't have the bodies. OL flat out not good enough. Zero momentum on off. Needed more 0. Effort & fight did not go away. Brown may need more of a look at QB. Foster having a special season. Gotta find 2 more wins somehow.

TEXAS A&M: Dominant at the LOS on both sides of the ball. Nice mix of backs & targets. 85 really coming on. Getting guys back at the right time as well. OL should be set, RBs are shredding. DL ripping. Chance to really finish strong. QB still needs to get feet & eyes calmed down.

VANDERBILT: QB mobility helps. Liked the creativity with offensive plan but just too much east/west. OL & accuracy obviously contribute to that. Saw good things from 54 on offense. Like the way 88 plays on defense. The effort is fine. Awareness needs to grow. Effort still there.
