Some big-time offensive linemen are leaving the SEC via graduation or the NFL Draft, but those departures give their potential replacements a golden opportunity to make a name for themselves.

As we head into the offseason, let’s take a look at each conference team’s offensive line situation:

Alabama: The good news is that starting left tackle Cam Robinson and guards Alphonse Taylor and Ross Pierschbacher are returning. The bad news is senior captain and three-year starter Ryan Kelly, the top center in the country, is not. Right tackle Dominique Jackson is also graduating, but three-fifths of the 2016 line seems set.

Arkansas: Center Mitch Smothers, and left guard Sebastian Tretola, both seniors, will be gone. Tretola should land in the NFL along with junior left tackle Denver Kirkland. The right side of the line seems secure, with guard Frank Ragnow and tackle Dan Skipper set to return.

Auburn: If only the Tigers’ QB situation were as settled as its offensive line, most of which is coming back. With the exception of early NFL draft entry Shon Coleman, the rest of Auburn’s group of blockers is returning, led by right tackle Avery Young, right guard Braden Smith and left guard Alex Kozan. Also, the Tigers are hoping that Austin Golson is healthy by spring practice. Coleman’s replacement at left tackle could be Robert Leff.

Florida: Like Alabama’s group, 60 percent of the Gators’ line seems set, starting with left tackle David Sharpe and left guard Martez Ivey. Center Cameron Dillard also returns, but Florida will need to replace the graduating Trip Thurman and Mason Halter. Offensive line coach Mike Summers might have to plug those spots with incoming freshmen.

Georgia: The Bulldogs are losing three senior starters – right tackle John Theus, center Hunter Long and left guard Kolton Houston. But they have gained a new offensive line coach in Sam Pittman, who was poached from Arkansas. Pittman will be able to work with four returnees who all have started at some point: guards Greg Pyke, Dyshon Sims and Brandon Kublanow and left tackle Isaiah Wynn, along with incoming freshman Ben Cleveland, who’s only 6-6 and 315 pounds.

Kentucky: The Wildcats return four-fifths of their line – left guard Nick Haynes, center Jon Toth, right guard Ramsey Meyers and right tackle Kyle Meadows. The key will be finding an adequate replacement for left tackle Jordan Swindle, a captain and three-year starter. Cole Mosier might be the guy.

LSU: Both starting tackles from 2015 – Vadal Alexander and Jerald Hawkins – are headed to the NFL. LSU is hoping to find replacements for them from a group that includes Chidi Okeke, K.J. Malone, George Brown Jr. and Jevonte Domond, who was arrested last spring on domestic-abuse charges. Meanwhile, Center Ethan Pocic and guards Will Clapp and Maea Teuhuma are all starters who are returning.

Mississippi State: Most of the Bulldogs’ line is back, led by center Jamaal Clayborn and right guard Devon Desper and right tackle Justin Senior. The left side is a different story as guard Justin Malone and tackle Rufus Warren are graduating seniors and have to be replaced.

Missouri: Left guard Nate Crawford is the only returning starter for the Tigers, who lose the following seniors: left tackle Connor McGovern, center Evan Boehm, right guard Mitch Hall and right tackle Taylor Chappell. If redshirt freshman Andy Bauer recovers fully from his season-ending hip injury, it would definitely help Missouri’s depth.

Ole Miss: The biggest departure is losing starting left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the NFL. But three other Rebel linemen are graduating: left guard Aaron Morris, center Ben Still, and right tackle Fahn Cooper are graduating. Right guard Jordan Sims is the only returning starter. Rod Taylor and Javon Patterson might be able to fill in the gaps, and if he is totally recovered from his season-ending ACL injury, Robert Conyers could take over at center.

South Carolina: Left tackle Brandon Shell, left guard Mike Matulis and right guard Will Sport, are graduating. Center Alan Knott and right tackle Blake Camper are the only returning starters, which probably explains why new head man Will Muschamp retained Shawn Elliott as the Gamecocks’ offensive line coach.

Tennessee: The Volunteers return four-fifths of their line – left guard Jashon Robertson, center Coleman Thomas, right guard Dylan Wiesman and right tackle Chance Hall, who was named to the All-SEC freshman team. The Vols have only starter to replace, but he’s a big one – senior left tackle Kyler Kerbyson.

Texas A&M: The Aggies lose junior right tackle Germain Ifedi, who has declared early for the NFL Draft, and two senior starters: center Mike Matthews and right guard Joseph Cheek. However, the left side returns two starters: tackle Avery Gennesy and guard Keaton Sutherland.

Vanderbilt: The Commodores are losing center Spencer Pulley and left guard Jake Bernstein to graduation, but left tackle Will Holden, right guard Barrett Gouger and right tackle Bailey Granier are coming back. Vandy will get a big boost if tackle Andrew Jelks recovers fully from his torn ACL that forced him to miss all of 2015.
