Heading into the 2023 season, the SEC, per usual, boasts some of the country’s best freshmen. Some of those freshmen landed on On3’s Preseason True Freshman All-American Team.

Texas A&M running back Rueben Owens made his way on to the list. On3 credited his versatility and ability to have an immediate impact as their reasoning for picking Owens over a handful of other talented running backs across the country.

Florida wide receiver Eugene Wilson III was one of the 3 wide receivers selected, and On3 stated that his coordination and playmaking ability landed him on the list. On3 was one of the only media outlets to name Wilson a 5-star, so the outlet has been high on him from the jump.

Another SEC receiver, Ole Miss’ Ayden Williams, also made the cut.

“We feel really good about Ayden Williams, after one, scouting him in person significantly, and kind of based on the opportunity he has at Ole Miss, and the reviews he’s received so far,” On3’s Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said.

On3 gave LSU’s Ka’Morreun Pimpton the nod due to his length and catching ability over other tight ends.

Several SEC offensive linemen made the list, including Texas A&M’s Chase Bisontis, Alabama’s Kadyn Proctor and LSU’s Zalance Heard. It’s safe to say the SEC has some immediate impact players coming to the offensive line position.

Several SEC freshmen made the team on the defensive side of the ball, too. Here are the SEC freshmen defenders who cracked the All-American Team:

  • Damon Wilson, George edge
  • Keldric Faulk, Auburn DL
  • Arion Carter, Tennessee LB
  • Pup Howard, South Carolina LB
  • Caleb Downs, Alabama DB
  • Ja’Keem Jackson, Florida DB
