Continuing our daily look at top recruits in each of the SEC states, the next stop in Tennessee. One would think that the Volunteers have a clear edge with top prospects in Tennessee, but things were spread out in 2016 with the top two recruits in Memphis choosing Oregon and Notre Dame, respectively.

The state is still clearly SEC-first, however, as seven of the top 10 are committed to SEC schools.

Based on 247Sports’ 2016 composite rankings by state, here are Tennessee’s 10 best prospects and where they’re headed (comments where necessary):

1. Dillon Mitchell, WR, 6-1, 190, Memphis (four stars, committed to Oregon): Mitchell has signed his financial paperwork with the Ducks to enroll in January.

2. Daniel Bituli, LB, 6-4, 230, Nashville (four stars, committed to Tennessee)

3. Joejuan Williams, CB, 6-2, 195, Hendersonville (four stars, committed to Vanderbilt)

4. Bryce Mathews, OT, 6-5, 280, Brentwood (four stars, committed to Ole Miss)

5. Ryan Johnson, OT, 6-6, 285, Brentwood (four stars, committed to Tennessee): Johnson is solid to the Volunteers and committed to being a strong student, too.

6. Donte Vaughn, CB, 6-3, 190, Memphis (four stars, committed to Notre Dame)

7. Emmit Gooden, DE, 6-4, 280, Brownsville (four stars, committed to Mississippi State): Gooden is the highest rated player in the Bulldogs’ class.

8. Gabe Angel, TE, 6-3, 220, Cookeville (four stars, committed to Ole Miss): Angel has signed his paperwork to enroll at Ole Miss in January

9. Nygel Edmonds, CB, 5-11, 180, Chattanooga (three stars, committed to Stanford)

10. Ikenna Okeke, S, 6-2, 200, Smyrna (three stars, committed to Texas A&M).
