FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt recently listed his Top 5 current coaching candidates in college football.

That could be pertinent to SEC fans, considering that as many as six or seven head coaching jobs inside the conference could potentially open up.

Florida already has an opening after firing Jim McElwain on Sunday, and Tennessee is all but certainly getting ready to part ways with Butch Jones. Arkansas’ Bret Bielema and Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin likely aren’t too comfortable right now, either.

According to Klatt, the top coaches out there to hire, from No. 1 to No. 5, are Scott Frost (Central Florida), Matt Campbell (Iowa State), Joe Moorhead (Penn State OC), Greg Schiano (Ohio State DC) and Ken Niumatalolo (Navy).

As Klatt put it, his list is a realistic one. He doesn’t believe Jon Gruden is going to step out of the ESPN booth to coach Tennessee, and he said Chip Kelly is more of a “dream” scenario for a school at the “right place, right time, right situation.”

And, Klatt implied, No. 1 isn’t even close.

“Scott Frost has it all,” Klatt said. “This guy has played for Bill Walsh, Tom Osborne, Bill Parcells, Bill Belichick, Jon Gruden and Monte Kiffin … Then in the coaching ranks, he’s coached under Chip Kelly. The guy has it all, and that’s why he’s having success at UCF.

“He’s seen every different offensive system you can run. He’s seen all the great defensive minds out there, and that’s why he knows what’s quality football,” Klatt added. “He runs a great program. I think the guy is an absolute star. If Nebraska doesn’t pay him 5 million dollars this year, somebody else will, and it might be Tennessee.

“Scott Frost will be your Nebraska or Tennessee head coach next year, because he’s the best coaching candidate available on the market.”

It’s worth noting that this video was shot before McElwain was fired, so Florida likely will be in the mix for Frost, as well.
