The SEC season is winding down, and SP+ ratings are starting to carry a little more weight.

At this point in the season, SP+ is reflective of what has happened so far in 2020. Preseason projections are mostly phased out this late in the year, so the numbers should speak for themselves.

Those numbers put the SEC in a very good light. Bill Connelly’s metric has four SEC teams in the top 13, including Alabama in the No. 1 spot.

Here’s where every SEC team stands in SP+ heading into Week 12:

  • No. 1 Alabama
  • No. 6 Florida
  • No. 10 Georgia
  • No. 13 Texas A&M
  • No. 38 Auburn
  • No. 49 Ole Miss
  • No. 51 LSU
  • No. 58 Arkansas
  • No. 62 Missouri
  • No. 64 Tennessee
  • No. 69 Kentucky
  • No. 74 Mississippi State
  • No. 97 South Carolina
  • No. 120 Vanderbilt

The Crimson Tide have the No. 1 offense in the country according to SP+. They’re led by quarterback Mac Jones and receiver Devonta Smith. Both players are contenders for the Heisman Trophy as the season hits the home stretch.

Florida, Georgia and Texas A&M have also made the top 13. The Gators have the best chance to make the College Football Playoff of that trio, as they will face Alabama in the SEC Championship Game on Dec. 19. The Aggies, fresh off a win over Auburn, also have a chance to make the top four.

The Bulldogs’ offense has looked much more threatening since USC transfer JT Daniels earned the starting job. Georgia is up to No. 34 in SP+ offense and holding strong at No. 2 in SP+ defense.
