Miami quarterback Tate Martell has had a roller coaster college career. He started at Ohio State only to transfer to Miami, and his time in Miami has been anything but successful.

After having been suspended for the season opener against UAB, Martell is now opting out of the 2020 season, according to the Miami Herald. Hurricanes head coach Manny Diaz said that Martell would return to the team after serving the suspension.

Martell’s college career has been all sizzle and no steak. Exiting high school, Martell was the nation’s No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the nation out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Martell threw for over 2,300 yards and 41 touchdowns during his high school senior season. He also rushed for another 1,200 yards and rushed for 21 touchdowns. He lead Bishop Gorman to 3 straight state championships.

Up to this point, Martell has completed just 1 pass for 7 yards at Miami.

Will this be the end of his college football career?
