Kirk Herbstreit has come to the defense of his friend Lee Corso after Corso stirred up a lot of individuals and fans of the Washington State Cougars and the Oregon State Beavers when he called their Week 4 matchup the “No One Watches Bowl” during ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday.

Among the upset individuals was Washington State head coach Jake Dickert, who called out Corso for his statement after the Cougars’ 38-35 home win over the Beavers. Former Cougars quarterback Ryan Leaf supported Dickert and called out Corso himself for turning this matchup into a comical subject.

Herbstreit came to the defense of Corso as he talked more about future conference homes of Washington State and Oregon State, rather than fans not watching the Week 4 matchup.

It is not a coincidence that both Washington State and Oregon State were a part of Corso’s joke on ESPN’s College GameDay. They are the only teams left from a dying Pac-12 conference.

USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington will join the Big Ten before the 2024 season. Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State and Utah will join the Big 12 before the 2024 season. California and Stanford were the latest teams to announce their decision to leave the PAC-12 as they will join the ACC before the 2024 season.

No. 21 Washington State defeated No. 14 Oregon State 38-35 to remain as one of the 5 remaining undefeated teams in the Pac-12.
