Oklahoma is not wasting anytime trying to replace Lincoln Riley as the Sooners are reportedly looking at an NFL head coach for its vacancy.

Oklahoma has targeted Cardinals’ head coach Kliff Kingsbury as one of the potential replacements for Lincoln Riley, league sources tell ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Kingsbury has one year remaining on his contract after this season. Riley reportedly took the Southern Cal job on Sunday.

Kingsbury was hired by the Arizona Cardinals before the 2019 season after 6 seasons at Texas Tech, where he was 35-40. The Cardinals are 9-2 this season and lead the NFC West. He is 22-20-1 in his third season in the NFL.

Kingsbury helped lead a turnaround that resulted in a two-win improvement following his first year in 2019 and a three-win improvement after his second season in 2020. Arizona went from the NFL’s 32nd ranked offense in 2018 to 16th in 2019 and then to 6th in 2020.
