It’s hard to imagine Oklahoma State without head coach Mike Gundy. Gundy has been with the Cowboys since 2001 when he was brought along as the offensive coordinator on Les Miles’ staff. He became head coach in 2004 when Miles left for the LSU job.

Oklahoma State thinks the same, so they have decided to offer Gundy a five-year perpetual contract.

Here’s what the longtime head coach of the Cowboys had to say about the contract.

“I am appreciative to Athletic Director Weiberg for his commitment and confidence in our football program, as well as our entire department,” said Gundy. “I also want to thank President Shrum and the Board of Regents. Stillwater is home, and I love this community and Oklahoma State. Coaching my beloved alma mater is great honor for me. I look forward to working with my outstanding coaching staff to continue having a positive impact on the lives on the players and their families who allow us the privilege to help them succeed on the field and in life.”

It looks like Gundy is planning to stay in Stillwater for a little while longer.
