Scott Frost is no longer the coach at Nebraska.

The former star player brought in to revive the program was cut loose by the Cornhuskers.

After Nebraska reworked his contract in the offseason, and Frost re-tooled his coaching staff, the Cornhuskers still got off to a rough start. They lost to Northwestern in Ireland to open the season, and most recently, they fell to Georgia Southern ahead of a home game next week against No. 7 Oklahoma. Mickey Joseph is taking over as interim head coach.

Frost was 16-31 and let go in his fifth season.

The Huskers (1-2) come into the Georgia Southern game 214-0 when scoring at least 35 points at Memorial Stadium. It was the second loss for Frost to a Sun Belt Conference team in 5 seasons, and fan pressure increased by the day.

Perhaps the most significant stat of the Frost era was Nebraska was 5-22 in one-possession games.

The Eagles piled up 642 yards, as Nebraska also had a big day on offense with 575 yards. The Cornhuskers suffered an incredible 10th straight one-score loss under Frost after they lost to former Southern Cal coach Clay Helton and Georgia Southern.

After the rough start, the only question for Frost’s future was his buyout terms. If Nebraska waited until after Oct. 1, the Cornhuskers would have saved $7.5 million in his buyout. As it stands, Frost will receive a $15 million buyout.
