If you missed the big news out of Coral Gables this week, Miami has named redshirt freshman Jarren Williams the team’s starting quarterback heading into the Week 0 season opener against Florida.

Not only did Manny Diaz make the decision earlier than anticipated, but the first-year Miami coach also picked the guy many assumed was third in the running to start behind Ohio State transfer Tate Martell and N’Kosi Perry, the signal-caller that has the most experience playing for the Hurricanes.

Following the decision to name Williams the starting quarterback, Martell failed to show up for practice at Miami on Monday, as first reported by Andrew Ivins of 247Sports.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, check out this Snapchat image shared by Miami long snapper Mason Napper featuring Martell’s nameplate found on the floor of Miami’s locker room. The caption Napper used “Rip the dream” was even more cryptic considering the events leading up to this image.
