The connection between Vanderbilt quarterback AJ Swann and Will Sheppard has been on in the Commodores’ season-opener against Hawaii.

The pair have connected for 2 touchdowns on the night as Vanderbilt leads the Rainbow Warriors 28-14.

In the 2nd quarter, Swann found Sheppard for a nice 7-yard touchdown to give Vandy a 2-touchdown lead. In the third quarter, the pair connected again on a goal line pass to give the Commodores some more breathing room in what has been an intense game so far.

The duo is promising as Vanderbilt looks to get Swann more comfortable as a starter since the departure of Mike Wright, who left for Mississippi State at the end of last season.

Swann has looked solid in his first game of the season with 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns, both to Sheppard. Swann has also been efficient, throwing just 3 incompletions on 16 attempts.
