Vanderbilt’s offense is off to a hot start in the Commodores season opener against Hawaii.

The Commodores needed just 4 plays to score their first touchdown of the season. After an incomplete pass and a short run, quarterback AJ Swann found Quincy Skinner to pick up the 1st down. On the next play, running back Patrick Smith took it 21 yards to the house to give Vanderbilt 6.

Vanderbilt went for a 2-point conversion, but came up short.

The first touchdown of the season came after some solid defense on Hawaii’s first drive. The Commodores forced an incompletion and picked up a tackle for loss, then held strong on 3rd down to force a punt. Then, Vandy’s special team unit put pressure on the punter and got a hand on the ball, giving the Commodores excellent starting field position on Hawaii’s 32-yard line.

The Commodores will look to continue their hot start as they look for a second-straight win over Hawaii.
