Vanderbilt University, via Vandy United, announced on Tuesday that it will start construction soon on a new $300 million athletic facility. The facility was officially announced in March.

“We continue to be excited about the transformation of Vanderbilt Athletics,” said Candice Lee, vice chancellor for athletics and university affairs and athletic director, in a press release

“Commodore Nation’s response to Vandy United has been nothing short of overwhelming. There is much work that remains, but it’s great to see our future begin to take shape.”

The university announced in March that Vandy United, which is an ongoing athletic fundraising campaign, would invest $300 million into new athletic facilities for student-athletes.

No official date has been announced as to when the school will start construction but the release said it is projected to begin following the conclusion of the 2021 football season.

Vanderbilt is one of the last schools in the SEC breaking ground on new athletic facilities. Most of the other 13 schools have either started or completed new facilities.
