Another strong performance from Jack Leiter helped Vanderbilt advance to the regional final.

The Commodores escaped a late scare from Georgia Tech, after Drew Compton hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning with two outs, to win 4-3. Vanderbilt will meet the winner of Indiana State-Georgia Tech, who play on Sunday afternoon, at 9 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Leiter went six innings and allowed one run on three hits with a walk and 11 strikeouts.

Vanderbilt scored two in the fourth inning on an RBI double from C.J. Rodriguez, and then Troy LaNeve later scored from third on a wild pitch. Jayson Gonzalez also scored in the fifth on a fielder’s choice. Vanderbilt had just three hits, but got help from three Georgia Tech errors.

Leiter improved to 9-3 on the season, and Nick Maldonado picked up his sixth save in the win. Maldonado went three innings and the only hit he gave up was the home run. He also struck out four, walked on  and hit a batter.
