LSU entered the 2018 season with talk of a “brutal schedule” landing coach Ed Orgeron on the hot seat. That “brutal schedule” has now elevated the Tigers to the top 10. The Bayou Bengals are up to No. 6 in both the Associated Press Top 25 and the Amway Coaches Poll. The 2018 season is only three weeks old, but LSU has already managed wins against two top-10 teams, No. 8 Miami (33-17) in Week 1 and No. 7 Auburn (22-21) in Week 3.

Another noteworthy change in the rankings is Georgia overtaking Clemson for No. 2 in the AP poll with the Tigers down to No. 3. Dabo Swinney’s squad remains No. 2 in the Coaches Poll.

Other noticeable changes include the entries of Texas A&M, Boston College and BYU to the rankings. Boise State and USC, meanwhile, have fallen out after their Week 3 losses. Boston College is now 3-0 after defeating Wake Forest 41-34 on Thursday.  BYU pulled off one of the biggest upsets of weekend, knocking off formerly No. 6 Wisconsin 24-21 in Madison.

In the case of Texas A&M, it would appear that following up the Clemson game with a large margin of victory – even over a “cupcake” opponent such as ULM – was good enough to earn entry into the rankings. The AP writers and CFB coaches both slot the Aggies at No. 22. That won’t last long, however, as Jimbo Fisher’s squad faces Alabama in Week 4. Win or lose, Texas A&M will be on the move.
