It’s that time of year when you expect the spotlight to shine brightly on the SEC, and it’s shining really bright on Saturday. A couple of top 10 matchups in College Station and Baton Rouge lead the card and the start of the post-Spurrier era can’t be missed either at South Carolina.

RELATED: Updated SEC kickoff times through Week 7

Here’s the top 5 games to catch this weekend. There’s only six games involving conference teams (Auburn and Kentucky played Thursday night), so the only one we’re leaving out is Mississippi State’s non-conference home game against Louisiana Tech. Sorry, Hail State – but be careful with former Florida QB Jeff Driskel there at the helm for Tech.

Get ready for a full day of fun. Saturday is going to go a long way in determining trips to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game.

1. ALABAMA at TEXAS A&M: Last year Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin took the beating of his life in Tuscaloosa, losing 59-0. As good as the Aggies have looked so far, that’s not happening again. Alabama’s defense can be tough, so it’s going to be interesting to see how well Texas A&M can move the ball, both in the air and on the ground.  And isn’t the jury still out on Alabama? Are they great, or just good? The nice bounce-back win at Georgia doesn’t look nearly as impressive now that the Bulldogs have lost again. The Crimson Tide offense can’t only be good for a half this week. They need to play well from start to finish to get out of College Station with a win.

2. FLORIDA at LSU: Nobody’s been better week in and out in the SEC than these two teams this year, but the battle of unbeatens lost a bit of its luster after Florida QB Will Grier was suspended for the rest of the year – and likely beyond – for a failed drug test. Treon Harris takes the reins for Florida, but he’s got Gators fans feeling pretty skittish going into Death Valley. He needs to be consistent for the Gators offense to not skip a beat. LSU is perennially tough at night in Baton Rouge, so look for that Tigers defense to make it a long night for the Gators. And plan on LSU RB Leonard Fournette to make some noise. Florida’s defense hasn’t seen anyone like him all year. Of course, there is no one else like the 1,000-yard back. He’s a runaway Heisman candidate for a reason.

3. VANDERBILT at SOUTH CAROLINA: This game wouldn’t normally make this list – especially this high – but after Steve Spurrier bailed on the Gamecocks on Monday, this game is a must-see. The Spurrier era is over and the 2-4 Gamecocks, already 0-4 in the SEC, really need a win under interim head coach Shawn Elliott. It’s going to be interesting to see how the players react to having a new coach in their ear. It’s big for Vandy, too. This is their chance to catch South Carolina while its down. Getting road wins are tough in this league, so the Commodores would love to find a way here.

4. OLE MISS at MEMPHIS: This non-conference road trip to Memphis has trap game written all over it for the Rebels. Memphis is unbeaten and has a 12-game winning streak dating back to the middle of last year, so this is no simple cupcake game. The Rebels are still smarting from the ugly loss at Florida and they want to get back on a roll heading into next week’s big SEC West game with Texas A&M and the four other division games that follow. It’s also important for them to be impressive in Memphis, since it’s such an important recruiting area for them.

5. MISSOURI at GEORGIA: It will be interesting to see what kind of bounce-back the Bulldogs have. They’re going to need a lot of it after losing standout RB Nick Chubb to a season-ending knee injury last week in the tough loss at Tennessee. Losing your best player can take a lot out of a team emotionally, so Georgia will have to find a way to get things back together. Missouri’s offensive woes can’t continue, but seeing what Tennessee did to Georgia’s defense might give them hope.
