This could be the end of an era for former Tennessee QB Peyton Manning.

It also could be the beginning of a dynasty for former Auburn QB Cam Newton.

Both of these possibilities, along with about 20 more SEC alums participating in the contest, make Super Bowl 50 a particularly intriguing matchup for SEC fans.

And if your SEC fandom leads you to make the trip to Santa Clara, Calif. to take part in the festivities, you’ll be paying dearly for it.

According to a report from the Associated Press, tickets for the event being hosted at the San Francisco 49ers’ new venue are quite expensive.

StubHub’s director of field operations Jason Deppen told the AP that ticket prices on the secondary market have been holding steady leading up to Sunday’s contest:

“We’re seeing prices as low as $3,000 to get in, so we are talking upper corner, upper end zone. Those prices are hovering around $3,000. The average price we’re seeing — $4,500, $4,700 — and prices get up to into the tens of thousands depending on suite levels, and lower sidelines of course,” Deppen said.

At the time this article was written, the cheapest ticket was $2,700 per seat for a pair at the top of section 418, which is in the corner of one of the endzones and about as far away from the field as you could be and still be considered inside Levi’s Stadium.

So there does seem to be a little bit of wiggle room on that $3,000 number.

And don’t stress, because after you pay $5,400 for your pair of seats, the site does have relatively reasonable $35 parking passes available.
