Derek Mason’s team got larger by three Wednesday as the program has announced the offseason additions of specialist Scott Sypniewski, offensive lineman Saige Young and wideout Alex Stump.

Sypniewski is a graduate transfer while Young arrives via junior college, making them both eligible immediately. Stump, on the other hand, will be forced to sit out the 2017 season before being eligible for the 2018 campaign.

Sypniewski was Michigan’s long snapper the last three seasons and looks to assume similar duties in Nashville following the graduation of the team’s two most experienced long snappers.

Young has three years of eligibility remaining after earning All-Conference honors at Dodge City Community College last fall.

Stump, formerly of Ohio State, was a four-star prospect during the 2015 recruiting cycle. 247Sports rated him as the nation’s No. 31 receiver prospect during his senior season of high school football. He signed with Ohio State over offers from Stanford, Miami, Nebraska, as well as several Ivy League programs.

“I’m happy to welcome Scott, Saige and Alex to West End as the newest Commodores. Our team immediately becomes a better and deeper football squad with the addition of these young men,” Mason said in response to three additions according to the Vanderbilt team site. “Their arrival on campus gives our program a full roster entering preseason camp.”
