What a wild Week 1 in the SEC! From high-scoring offenses to shutdown defensive efforts, there were plenty of outstanding individual performances across the conference.

On Tuesday, Pro Football Focus released its Week 1 SEC teams of the week, honoring the top offensive and defensive players at each position.

Players from 12 of the 14 SEC schools (sorry Florida and Arkansas) were represented on the squads, which you can see below:

One glaring omission was Mizzou QB Drew Lock, as Alabama’s Jalen Hurts instead earned the honors despite throwing for six fewer touchdowns than Lock. Granted, Hurts’s solid outing came against a much tougher opponent in Florida State.

Sticking with Mizzou, it seems questionable that two Tiger defenders ended up on the team after allowing 43 points to an FCS opponent.

Other than that, it’s hard to argue with many of the above picks.
