Though three of the four teams are the same as last week, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit has some major changes to his top-4 rankings following Week 3 of the college football season.

The popular College GameDay panelist was not impressed with USC’s narrow win over Texas, dropping the Trojans out of his top four in favor of Penn State.

Also of note, he dropped Alabama from No. 1 to No. 3 this week after Clemson pulled off a huge win over Louisville on Saturday night:

Alabama gets into the SEC portion of its schedule this week, so its quality of opponents will increase after dipping significantly in the aftermath of a Week 1 win over Florida State.

However, the Tigers are proving once again that they are for real, and all signs are beginning to point to a possible third-straight Alabama-Clemson national championship game.

Of course, it’s still early in the season and a lot will change in the coming weeks, but for right now, Herbie sees Clemson, Oklahoma, Alabama and Penn State as the four teams with the best chance of getting into the College Football Playoff.
