When the Heisman Trophy is presented on Sunday, Dec. 10, it will go to one of three players — Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield, Stanford RB Bryce Love or Louisville QB Lamar Jackson.

Mayfield is the overwhelming favorite to win the award, even though Jackson won it last year. While leading the Sooners to a College Football Playoff berth, Mayfield has thrown for 4,340 yards and 41 touchdowns to go with only five interceptions.

Therefore, it should come as no surprise that former Florida coach and 1966 Heisman winner Steve Spurrier voted for Mayfield to win the award:

Spurrier was a gunslinger like Mayfield back during his playing days, so it makes a lot of sense that he’d vote for the Oklahoma quarterback.

Even with Jackson having another outstanding year and Love tearing it up in the Pac-12, it’s Mayfield’s award to lose, and it’s likely that he’ll win the trophy in landslide fashion.
