Every year, the SEC recruits some of the nation’s top high school athletes, and a select few of them manage to make major contributions right away.

This year, players on both sides of the ball impressed and 3 SEC freshmen were recognized by ESPN’s Freshman All-America team.

The whole list of ESPN’s Freshman All-American players can be found here, but the three SEC players honored were:

  • Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia
  • Andrew Thomas, OL, Georgia
  • Grant Delpit, S, LSU

It’s no surprise that Fromm made the list, as he took over for the injured Jacob Eason in Week 1 and led the Bulldogs all the way to an SEC championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Thomas certainly helped Georgia’s running attack become one of the nation’s best and Delpit was an impact player on the back end of LSU’s defense.

Several other SEC players had great freshman seasons, but the future is bright for these three budding stars, and we’ll be hearing their names plenty during bowl season, and in 2018 and beyond.
