The Vanderbilt Commodores lost a couple of players on Monday, both of whom will leave the football team after the semester is over.

Those players are staring punter Sam Loy and reserve LB Jay Hockaday. The Tennessean confirmed the news of Hockaday’s departure with a Vanderbilt spokesperson.

Loy, has been the Commodores’ starting punter for the last two seasons, and announced his decision to leave the program on Twitter:

Loy has punted 132 times over the last two years, averaging 41 yards per kick. Where he ends up next remains to be seen, but it sounds like he wants to play closer to home.

Hockaday, on the other hand, has yet to release a statement, so his future plans are also unclear.
