The Tennessee Volunteers thought they had a big-time linebacker on Wednesday, as 4-star OLB Quay Walker, a former Alabama commit, picked up a Vols hat on National Signing Day.

However, he quickly threw that hat aside and grabbed a Georgia hat, choosing to commit to his home-state Bulldogs instead.

That, naturally, sparked outrage on Rocky Top, as many Vol fans blasted the 17-year-old defender for his signing day antics:

Walker responded to the above tweet, however, saying he meant no disrespect to Tennessee with the incident. He said he simply wanted to show his excitement about becoming a Dawg:

Should Walker have thrown a Tennessee hat like that? Maybe not, but it’s important to remember that these are high school kids.

And, also, it’s not the worst thing in the world, so those getting mad at a young athlete online should probably rethink their social media posts.
