It appears two SEC programs want to set a precedent moving forward which could deter potential cheating within the conference.

With the league’s spring meetings upcoming, one item that will be on the agenda — according to Dan Wolken of USA TODAY Sports, is a proposed rule on permitting transfers from within the league. The proposed rule has a catch, however, as it is designed to hurt programs that have broken NCAA rules.

The rule, proposed by Florida and Texas A&M, would allow student-athletes to transfer to another league program without restriction if their current program receives a postseason ban. The rule would also negatively affect programs that break rules financially by withholding postseason revenue from those institutions.

If passed, this rule would appear to benefit Florida, as the Gators added receiver Van Jefferson from Ole Miss this offseason. The Rebels are currently suspended from postseason play for the 2018 season, however, the program is appealing that decision.
