The 2018 SEC football season is still months away but that isn’t going to stop prognostications to continue to pour in over the next weeks and months. The latest such offering comes from longtime SEC writer Tony Barnhart of the SEC Network and TMGsports aka The Media Guides.

Barnhart recently revealed his SEC East projections for the coming season and he projects the Bulldogs to make a return to Atlanta, giving the Bulldogs an opportunity to defend the 2017 SEC Championship won last December.

However, Barnhart predicts Georgia will drop its first league game of the year. He broke down his picks and gave a summary of this thought process over at TMGsports.com.

Here is a brief summary of Barnhart’s picks for the SEC East in 2018:

  • #1 — Georgia Bulldogs (7-1) with loss to South Carolina
  • #2 — South Carolina Gamecocks (6-2) with losses to Ole Miss and Florida
  • #3 — Florida Gators (5-3) with losses to Tennessee, Mississippi State and Georgia
  • #4 — Tennessee (4-4) with losses to Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, and South Carolina
  • #5 — Kentucky (2-6) with losses to Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Mississippi State
  • #6 — Missouri (2-6) with losses to Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, Florida and Tennessee
