The bye week was good for Georgia in at least one set of rankings.

With Ohio State falling to Purdue on Saturday night, the updated ESPN Football Power Index moved UGA up from No. 4 to No. 3 in the rankings. Another SEC East team received a noticeable bump. Missouri is back in the top 25 after beating Memphis 65-33. MU is now No. 23 in ESPN’s metric-based rankings.

Auburn was No. 21 after its Week 7 loss to Tennessee, but has moved up after beating Ole Miss in Week 8.

LSU and Florida stayed put in their spots, but the bye week was not kind to Texas A&M. The Aggies dropped three spots in the updated rankings.

Here are the eight SEC teams in the top 25:

  • No. 1 – Alabama
  • No. 3 – Georgia
  • No. 10 – LSU
  • No. 11 – Florida
  • No. 13 – Mississippi State
  • No. 17 – Texas A&M
  • No. 18 – Auburn
  • No. 23 – Missouri

You would have a hard time finding anyone who considers Mississippi State the No. 13 team in the country, but the FPI often differs from the “eye test.”

The full rankings of all 130 FBS teams, including the rest of the SEC, can be found on ESPN’s website.
