Kirk Herbstreit’s sons recently decided that they’d head to Clemson as preferred walk-ons next year.

That’s obviously a great program for Jake and Tye to join, and they’ll work under head coach Dabo Swinney as they fight for playing time.

On Wednesday, Herbstreit spoke about his sons’ decision, saying he loves everything about the Clemson program (via TigerNet):

“They went to a football camp at Clemson last year and had a great time,” Herbstreit told TigerNet. “I think it raised the eyebrows of the coaches and the coaches stayed in touch with my boys. I’ve watched (Clemson) go from being on the outside to in the upper tier, and not just the last couple of years. …

“For me, there are maybe seven or eight coaches I would green light for my kids to go play for, especially in this situation, where they are preferred walk-ons. And obviously Clemson is one of the first ones I would say that is a great situation. I am tickled to death and I can’t wait to go forward from here.”

We’ll see what roles the Herbstreits carve out for themselves over the next few years, but for now, their dad is thrilled with their decision.
