Don’t expect Matt Campbell to leave Iowa State anytime soon, the school just announced it has locked up its head coach with another contract extension. His new deal with Iowa State runs through the 2024 season.

Campbell, the reigning Big 12 Coach of the Year (he won the award in 2017, too), has been a hot name in coaching searches not only across the nation but in NFL circles following the outstanding job he’s done for Iowa State since joining the program.

Iowa State went 8-4 this season, winning six games in the Big 12 for the first time ever after being picked to finish seventh in the Big 12 during the preseason. Iowa State will finish the season in the Alamo Bowl playing against Washington State.

“Coach Campbell and I had a great end-of-the-year meeting Friday and during our visit we mutually agreed to extend his contract to 2024 and further demonstrate Coach Campbell and the University’s commitment to one another,” Iowa State Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said in a statement. “I couldn’t be more excited for our current players, fans and recruits to receive this great news.”

In his three seasons at Iowa State, Campbell’s record is 19-18 overall and 13-14 in the Big 12. In the three seasons prior to Campbell’s hiring, the team won a combined eight games.
