Les Miles has reportedly found his new defensive coordinator. According to FootballScoop, Miles is set to hire DJ Eliot, who previously coached at Colorado, Kentucky and Florida State.

For Miles, it’s another instance of bringing SEC flavor to the Big 12. He hired Chip Lindsey as his offensive coordinator earlier in the week. Lindsey spent the 2017 and ’18 seasons as Auburn’s offensive coordinator.

Eliot spent the 2014-16 seasons as Kentucky’s defensive coordinator. After Kentucky started 0-2 to the 2016 season, coach Mark Stoops took over defensive play-calling. After the 2016 season, Eliot left Kentucky for Colorado’s defensive coordinator position. This season, Colorado fired Mike MacIntyre. Former Georgia defensive coordinator Mel Tucker has been hired as his replacement.

Eliot’s Colorado unit was No. 5 in the Pac-12 in total defense and No. 9 in scoring defense.
