With Scott Satterfield off to Louisville, Appalachian State has reportedly turned to an offensive mind within its borders to replace the departed head coach.

If App State fans don’t know the name Eliah Drinkwitz, it’s time to learn about the 35-year-old, former N.C. State offensive coordinator.

According to Ethan Joyce of the Winston-Salem Journal, Appalachian State is set to name Drinkwitz as the school’s next football coach. His contract still has to be approved by the school, according to Joyce, but that rarely is an obstacle when it comes to naming a head football coach around the nation.

Drinkwitz comes from the Gus Malzahn coaching tree, having worked for the Auburn coach at both Auburn and Arkansas State. His name was mentioned for the open offensive coordinator positions on The Plains under his former boss as well as at Tennessee, early in the process of the ongoing search on Rocky Top.

Drinkwitz also has experience coaching at Boise State. All in all, it would appear that Appalachian State is getting an up and coming coach in the former offensive coordinator from N.C. State.
