The number of perfect brackets has dwindled every day of the NCAA Tournament. Entering Friday, only about 60,000 of the tens of millions of brackets submitted online went 16-for-16 on Day 1. Only 16 of those brackets survived Day 2 and entered Saturday still perfect. After eight more games, the number is down to two.

That’s according to NCAA.com’s Daniel Wilco, tracking the brackets at ESPN, CBS, Yahoo, Fox and Sports Illustrated as well as NCAA.com’s own Bracket Challenge Game. In fact, one of the two perfect brackets comes from the Bracket Challenge Game. Through 40 games, no perfect brackets remain at ESPN, CBS, Fox or Sports Illustrated. The only other perfect bracket is titled “Court Stormers” at Yahoo, which has Tennessee winning it all.

It’s possible for only one of the two brackets to make it to the Sweet 16. While both predict that Tennessee, Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Houston and Oregon will win Sunday, the two brackets differ on the Texas Tech vs. Buffalo game. Obviously they could both miss on one of the other seven games.

NCAA.com says 40 games is a new record for maintaining a perfect bracket. The previous mark was 39 games in 2017.
