It didn’t take Vanderbilt long to get on the scoreboard in Omaha, as Austin Martin took the first pitch the Commodores saw all game and sent it over the wall in left-center field.

Louisville eventually battled back to tie the game at 1-1, but the Commodores came back to earn a 3-1 victory in their first game at this year’s College World Series.

Austin Martin was the star, hitting two home runs and accounting for all three runs the Commodores scored. Here’s his first-inning blast:

Kumar Rocker — he of the 19-strikeout no-hitter during the super regionals — will take the mound for the Commodores’ second game on Tuesday against the winner of Sunday’s Mississippi State-Auburn showdown.

The Commodores will need more production from other players in the lineup to advance to the championship series, but Marin is as hot as anyone in the country right now.
