For many Southeastern Conference football fans, the anticipation for the coming season really starts to heat up when each program and the media meet up for the conference’s annual summer Media Days event.

The upcoming SEC Media Days are set to be held in Atlanta at the College Football Hall of Fame starting July 13 and ending on July 16.

During his Wednesday appearance on the SEC teleconference, league commissioner Greg Sankey was asked if the 2020 SEC Media Days event was still on as planned and when a final decision would have to be made regarding the event.

“I’m going to be (glass) half-full right now, we are full steam ahead on Atlanta planning for Media Days,” Sankey responded.

Of course, the SEC commissioner then quickly noted that just under a week ago, he was fully prepared to play the 2020 SEC Tournament and we all know the Nashville event was canceled just before tip-off between Alabama and Tennessee.

“Last Thursday morning, I was full steam ahead playing a basketball tournament and was disrupted,” Sankey continued. “So, we will prepare for disruption but will plan as if in July we will have Media Days opportunity as scheduled and that’s the best answer I can give you at this moment.”

We are all searching for answers at the moment but the reality is, many questions remain unanswerable until further notice. At least for now, it’s good to know the league has not pulled the plug on the highlight of the offseason in terms of media content leading up to football season.
