ESPN College GameDay from The Masters?

While that has never been an option before 2020, it could be in the cards for next season as The Masters issued the following update as the historic golf tournament has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We have identified Nov 9-15 as the intended dates to host the 2020 Masters. We hope the anticipation of staging the Tournament brings a moment of joy to the Augusta community and those who love the game.”

It should be noted that The Masters is not officially set to run on those dates at this time but if the tournament is held from Augusta that week, it would overlap with the 2020 college football season — provided, of course, that the college football season is played as originally scheduled.

Following the update from The Masters, College GameDay host Kirk Herbstreit was asked about the potential of the show airing from The Masters. Keep in mind, Tennessee at Georgia is scheduled to be played on Saturday, Nov. 14 that weekend which could be a big game in terms of the SEC East race.

Clearly Herbstreit is on board with the idea, as he tagged College GameDay producer Lee Fitting to potentially get the ball rolling on the idea.

How great would College GameDay be from The Masters? This may be the only time it’s even possible to do it and ESPN would be wise to make it happen.
