The 2020 NFL Draft will begin with Round 1 on Thursday night. Heading into the draft process, Alabama CB Trevon Diggs and LSU S Grant Delpit were considered likely first-round picks.

Now, though, it seems both talented defensive backs could have to wait until the second round to hear their names called.

During an ESPN draft special on Monday, analyst Louis Riddick named Delpit as a guy who has seen his stock tumble in recent days.

“I’m going to go with Grant Delpit, the safety out of LSU,” Riddick said. “I’m naturally drawn to safety play, especially guys who are as big and as athletic as Delpit is. But he’s a guy who’s not as fast as people think that he is. He really struggled this past year as far as his tackling is concerned and his ability to be a real physical presence. So he’s kind of caught in-between. If you’re big and you’re not a blazer, but you’re also big and you miss too many tackles, then where do you fall? People who I talked to really struggle with him right now and think that his stock is dropping.”

Meanwhile, Mel Kiper Jr. said Diggs’ inconsistent game tape could have him fall into Round 2.

“I like Trevon Diggs moving down a bit into the second round,” Kiper said. “A little inconsistent on tape coming out of Alabama.”

Is this just pre-draft smoke? Or, will these guys actually fall? We’ll find out this week!
