How the 2020 college football season is shaking out

The Southeastern Conference

With only three of the major conferences starting football in September, the SEC received much of the focus along with a few Big 12 programs (and always Clemson) early in the season. Like always, Alabama has remained a program headlined with consistency and domination. Alabama QB Mac Jones has taken the place of phenom Tua Tagovailoa and the Tide offense hasn’t skipped a beat. Alabama remains undefeated and the favorite to win the conference.

With the win over Georgia, Florida has the momentum to win the east and possibly play Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.

Texas A&M has been one of the surprises along with Arkansas. Both teams are playing well.

Last year’s champion, the LSU Tigers is having a nightmarish season with lackluster play on both sides of the ball.

The ACC

Clemson took a loss against Notre Dame, but we might still see the Tigers in the postseason with the return of quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Notre Dame is on its way to competing for an ACC Championship in its first year as a member of the conference.

North Carolina looked poised to compete for a championship in the conference, but has fallen apart recently.

The Big Ten

With the Big Ten finally back on the field, all the focus remains on Ohio State and star quarterback Justin Fields. The Buckeyes look fantastic and are a favorite to make this year’s College Football Playoff.

Michigan, after a great first week win, has been falling apart. Indiana is the surprise winning team of the season, and Penn State is the surprise losing team of the season.

The Big 12

The Big 12 is playing, but we aren’t sure if anyone is that good. Both Texas and Oklahoma have registered rough losses early in the season, but have time to get things in order and possibly win the conference. Depending on if and when the Pac-12 joins the party, the Big 12 might be able to get a team into the playoff, even if they wouldn’t in a typical season.
