The New York Mets drafted Vanderbilt star pitcher Kumar Rocker with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft.

However, the team did not sign Rocker in the allotted time, so now the Mets have forfeited that pick.

What does that mean for Rocker? Well, nothing good. Now, Rocker will not be able to join the Mets (or any other MLB team’s) organization for the 2021 season. Per baseball insider Jon Heyman, Rocker will not return to Vanderbilt.

Instead, he’s planning to spend the year doing strengthening and conditioning work to prepare for the 2022 MLB Draft:

But, as Heyman said, Rocker could also end up playing in Japan or elsewhere. It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up over these next few months.
