With only a couple more weeks to go before there’s actual college football on television, it is officially rankings season!

On Thursday, ESPN’s Bill Connelly released his first SP+ rankings of the 2021 campaign. The SP+ rankings are an “opponent- and tempo-adjusted look at the most sustainable and predictive aspects of college football,” according to Connelly, who makes it clear they are not power rankings, but rather a predictive look at what might happen.
